Summer is winding down and now is the time to recognize a good community project in which we participated.
On June 13th 2016, the city of Lachute held a press conference to announce the launch of the project Lachute à Vélo in collaboration with the School Board of the Rivière-du-Nord, Québec en forme Argenteuil and Scierie Carrière Ltée.
This inspiring project aimed to encourage active movement of the population by implementing a self-service bike pilot project on the territory of the city of Lachute. The project took place from June 20th to September 25th of 2016. Not only was it freely accessible to the citizens of Lachute, but to the tourists and visitors as well.
Twenty students of Lachute Le Tremplin’s High School employment training program, worked during the 2015-2016 school year to repair over 120 bicycles, in which one hundred of those were used through Lachute à Vélo.
Lachute à Vélo, in collaboration with the employment training program, pursues a mission that stimulates learning motivation, self-confidence and development of skills and acquisition of habits related to the labor market, in a context of student retention.
We are all very proud to have participated in this great initiative!
